SLED charges Chesterfield man after investigators say he tampered with lottery tickets

CHESTERFILD, S.C. – A South Carolina man is facing charges after law enforcement says he tampered with lottery tickets. 55-year-old James Gaskins’ charges include Attempt to Influence Game by Coercion, and Tampering.

According to an arrest warrant, while working at the Flash Market on West Main Street in Chesterfield, Gaskins opened opened 20 packs of un-activated scratch-offs and scratched tickets to find winners. Investigators say he did this for months, between December of 2025 and April of this year.

The value of damaged products is more than $7,500. SLED led the investigation.
