CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD Animal Care & Control says a bat found on August 24 has tested positive for rabies.
The bat was found around 7pm in the area of Kings Falls Drive in south Charlotte. Officials say the bat came in contact with a pet dog, but the pet was current on rabies vaccinations and only required a booster.
AC&C is reminding pet owners to make sure their animals are up to date on rabies vaccinations. Anyone in need of vaccinations can get them through their local veterinarian or at one of the free monthly clinics offered by AC&C to Mecklenburg County residents.
AC&C clinics are offered on the second Saturday of each month from 8am to 11am at the animal shelter on 8315 Byrum Drive. $10 microchips and free pet ID tags are also available.
