Fox Tests Positive For Rabies In South Charlotte

A rabies alert will be sent out to residents on or near Seneca Place in Charlotte at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, after a fox tested positive for rabies in the area, according to CMPD Animal Care and Control.

Brain-Eating Amoeba Causes NC Child's Death

Public health officials with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services are reporting a child died Friday after developing an illness caused by an amoeba that is naturally present in freshwater. The child became ill after swimming in a private pond located at their residence in central North Carolina in early August.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced Tuesday the opening of the De-Escalation Training Facility at the academy, which is the first of its kind in the Southeast, that will aid in continuing de-escalation training efforts for officers that will enhance communication skills and increase opportunities for better outcomes through real-life scenarios.Β
