North Carolina state lawmakers passed new criminal justice reform measures after the murder of a woman on Charlotte's light rail train. Iryna's Law is a package of legislation that includes measures to eliminate cashless bail, add new requirements for magistrates and judges and clear the way to restart the death penalty.

City Council votes to expand transit security jurisdiction

Charlotte City Council voted to expand the jurisdiction for the private security company that patrols the transit system. This is the first policy change from city council since Iryna Zarutska was murdered on the train back on August 22nd.

Loved ones raising money for 4-year-old homicide victim

Loved ones are raising money to support a grandmother who lost her grandson in a southwest Charlotte shooting. Police say 4-year-old Jayce Edwards was in bed around 6:00am last Wednesday morning when a group fired shots into his home while stealing a car.
