George Floyd Protests

Protests have erupted nationwide since the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis on May 25th. The first protest in Charlotte took place on Friday, May 29th on Beatties Ford Rd. Since then, they have centered in Uptown. Floyd’s death is another example of police brutality caught on camera and the conversation of systemic racism has been brought to the fore. Protesters are saying, “enough is enough.”

Officials Urge Floyd Protesters To Get Coronavirus Tests

With New York City poised to reopen after a more than two-month coronavirus shutdown, officials on Sunday lifted a curfew that was in place amid protests of police brutality and racial injustice. But they also urged that demonstrators be tested for COVID-19.
