George Floyd Protests

Protests have erupted nationwide since the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis on May 25th. The first protest in Charlotte took place on Friday, May 29th on Beatties Ford Rd. Since then, they have centered in Uptown. Floyd’s death is another example of police brutality caught on camera and the conversation of systemic racism has been brought to the fore. Protesters are saying, “enough is enough.”

NASCAR Looks To Steer Clear Of Protests Over George Floyd

Maybe it’s not surprising this mostly white sport seemed hesitant to join the national outrage over the death of George Floyd while in police custody — a striking contrast to its rush to be the first major sport to return during the coronavirus pandemic.

Social Media, Music World Go Dark For Black Out Tuesday

Though Black Out Tuesday was originally organized by the music community, the social media world also went dark in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, joining voices around the world outraged by the killings of black people in the U.S.
